A Backblaze Case Study
Fellowship Church, one of the largest and most progressive churches in the U.S., was struggling with an aging LTO-5 tape archive workflow that required manually cataloging and babysitting 10–25 TB of new video, audio, and graphics each weekend and had grown to over 1 PB on tape. Seeking better accessibility and affordability, the church evaluated cloud options and chose Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage to replace their tape archive.
Fellowship Church implemented a solution using GoodSync to detect new and changed files on their SAN and automatically archive them to Backblaze B2, allowing staff to thin the SAN and store archives off-site with immediate access. The Backblaze B2 deployment eliminated the weekly tape batching and error-prone tape maintenance, freed staff from hours of manual work each week, and provided an affordable, accessible archive for their growing media library.
