The digital transformation of Gulf Bank

Gulf Bank, one of Kuwait’s leading commercial banks, wanted to modernize its online and mobile channels, improve customer experience, increase digital transaction efficiency and reduce operational risk without a full core banking overhaul. To do this it engaged Backbase and deployed Backbase’s omni-channel Digital Customer Experience Layer to add customer-focused functionality and accelerate its digital transformation.

Backbase implemented the platform using agile scrum and a certified integration partner, delivering fast, secure authentication (including facial-recognition biometrics) and a fully revamped online and mobile banking app. The result was at least twice-as-fast delivery to market, rapid customer adoption—40,000 registered users in six months versus 20,000 after three years on the old site—and over 75% of new users active, while improving flexibility, security and time to market.
