State Employees Credit Union, a North Carolina-based credit union serving 2.5 million members and managing nearly $50 billion in assets, needed a future-proof, member-first digital platform to provide 24/7 mobile access and modernize its digital experience. To define its digital roadmap and accelerate transformation, State Employees Credit Union enlisted Backbase to deliver a scalable mobile banking solution.

Backbase implemented its out-of-the-box Backbase Retail Banking solution, enabling SECU to launch a mobile app within one year. The rollout drove strong adoption—642,398 app users in 24 months (about 24,000 new users per month)—while SECU’s teams moved toward full digital self-sufficiency, significantly increasing member engagement and convenience with Backbase’s platform.
