National Savings & Investments (NS&I) enlisted Backbase to improve their digital capabilities and help inspire a new culture of saving. Facing an older customer base and low recognition among people under 40, NS&I needed a rapid digital transformation—modern mobile services, APIs and a shift away from labour‑intensive, paper‑heavy processes. They selected Backbase for its Digital‑First Banking Platform and collaborative, agile approach.

Backbase implemented a financial advisor portal and a mobile savings app, introduced APIs and mobile‑only services, and supported NS&I’s move to agile working. The first project went live in just 15 weeks — the fastest launch NS&I had delivered — reduced manual paperwork, and helped modernise digital offerings for NS&I’s 25 million customers. Backbase’s technology and methodology enabled measurable speed and efficiency gains while positioning NS&I to reach a new generation of savers.
