A Backbase Case Study
Metro Bank, the UK’s first new high street bank in over a century, needed to replace an inflexible, multi-platform digital stack with a lightweight, omni-channel solution that would let it move faster, be more agile, and deliver better service to commercial and retail customers. After evaluating vendors, Metro Bank selected the Backbase Digital Banking Platform (Backbase DBP) to provide a flexible presentation layer that could integrate with its core systems and support rapid, iterative development.
Working with Backbase, Metro Bank built a new commercial internet banking platform (launched November 2016) and a retail/small-business mobile app (launched February 2017), developing many custom widgets and adopting agile delivery practices. Backbase helped Metro Bank establish an end-to-end digital delivery capability, enabled scalability to handle thousands of transactions, and contributed to measurable business benefits including faster time-to-market, the ability to take on larger customers, and very high Net Promoter Scores; Metro Bank credits Backbase with being a key partner in these outcomes.
