Altyn Bank, part of Halyk Group and the former HSBC Kazakhstan, faced the challenge of separating from legacy parent systems and launching a standalone digital retail bank quickly after acquisition. To build a modern, omni-channel experience (the Altyn-i digital bank) and improve customer onboarding and retail processes, Altyn Bank selected Backbase and its omni-channel digital banking platform.
Backbase delivered the core Altyn-i platform, integrating with 12 IT systems and third-party services to enable 24/7 banking, digital account opening, debit cards, payments and automated credit approvals. The Backbase implementation helped Altyn Bank onboard 10,000 clients in under nine months (doubling the original 5,000 target), create a “bank within a bank” for smoother migration to digital channels, and accelerate its retail business transformation.
