Berenberg adopts an agile approach to build a distinctive, client-focused Wealth Management Portal

Berenberg, the Hamburg-based private bank known for relationship-led wealth management, needed to give high-net-worth clients secure, on-demand portfolio access without losing the central role of the relationship manager. To create a distinctive, omni-channel Wealth Management Portal that was responsive, secure and tailored to its culture, Berenberg selected Backbase and its Omni-Channel Banking Platform, leveraging Backbase’s agile, user-centered methodology.

Backbase worked closely with Berenberg to introduce agile practices, build a responsive website and iOS app, and combine out-of-the-box and custom widgets to meet specialist client needs. The portal went live to a limited audience within 12 months, added two-factor authentication to meet PSD2 standards, improved clients’ on-demand access to portfolios (supporting richer adviser conversations), and generated positive initial user feedback while strengthening Berenberg’s internal digital capabilities.
