AIB Personal Banking, part of Allied Irish Banks and a market leader in the Republic of Ireland serving a digital-savvy customer base (including over 60,000 businesses on its portal), needed to modernize its digital channels. The bank sought a flexible, agile solution to regain control of the front end, streamline back-end operations and position itself for open banking, and selected Backbase and its Backbase Digital-First Banking Platform as the technology partner.
Backbase implemented its Digital-First Banking Platform and provided ongoing co-development, design and engineering services, adopting a microservices-aligned architecture and agile ways of working. Phase One of the digital upgrade is complete: the program now delivers monthly incremental releases, tighter business–technology collaboration, greater operational agility and a firm foundation for open banking — all enabled by Backbase’s platform and partnership.
