Case Study: Lactalis Northern Europe achieves agility and lower IT costs with Babelway

A Babelway Case Study

Preview of the Lactalis Northern Europe Case Study

How Lactalis replaced 3 pieces of software

Lactalis Northern Europe, the Belgian/Dutch subsidiary of the Lactalis group, was running a fragmented, aging EDI stack (X.400, separate mapping tools and AS2 components) that hadn’t been meaningfully upgraded since 2000. Handling roughly 40,000 messages a year with about 15 trading partners, the team sought to reduce administrative overhead, extend AS2 to new partners and regain agility without large capital investment — so they evaluated and selected Babelway’s EDI SaaS.

Babelway replaced the three local systems with a single SaaS platform, enabling Lactalis Northern Europe to migrate ~20–25 flows over a year; initial setup cost was about €1,500 with ~80 internal man-days and ongoing support/usage around €5,000/year. The Babelway deployment improved reliability and visibility (custom notifications, web-based message tracking), preserved responsiveness to partner change requests (often implemented within hours), removed server/infrastructure burden, added load‑balancing and eliminated capex — while continuing to process ~40,000 messages annually.
