Viridor delivers 7.25 MW energy recovery facility on time and within budget with Babcock & Wilcox

Viridor, a UK waste management company, was awarded a 30-year contract by Peterborough City Council to develop an energy recovery facility. They selected Babcock & Wilcox Renewable to provide a solution using their Vølund waste-to-energy technology to process local residual waste and generate green energy.

Babcock & Wilcox implemented the facility under a full engineer-procure-construct contract, utilizing their patented DynaGrate combustion technology. The plant was handed over on time and within budget, and it operates ahead of expectations. The facility processes 85,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating 7.25 MW of green energy to contribute to the city's sustainable energy project while achieving a high electrical efficiency rating.
