Öresundskraft cuts NOx emissions 24% with Babcock & Wilcox

Öresundskraft, a Swedish energy company, required a modern waste-to-energy solution for its Filbornaverket plant in Helsingborg. They partnered with Babcock & Wilcox Renewable, which supplied its Vølund technology, including a DynaGrate combustion grate and a complete combustion and flue gas cleaning system.

Babcock & Wilcox's solution efficiently processes 200,000 tonnes of waste annually, producing significant district heating and electricity. In a later upgrade, B&W's adaptive SNCR system achieved a 24% reduction in NOx emissions, resulting in substantial cost savings on emissions payments. The plant now provides district heating for thousands of homes and electricity for 7,500 villas.
