A Babcock & Wilcox Case Study
a midwestern U.S. utility required a wet flue gas desulfurization system for its three pulverized coal-fired boilers to meet environmental standards. Babcock & Wilcox was selected to engineer, procure, and construct a solution designed to remove sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions.
Babcock & Wilcox implemented a limestone forced oxidation wet FGD system featuring its signature tray tower design. The project was completed on schedule, with all three units meeting performance guarantees for high SO2 removal. The commissioned systems successfully achieved the goal of removing 97% of entering SO2 without the need for organic acid addition.
