Enfinium diverts 395,000 tonnes of waste with Babcock & Wilcox

Enfinium, a provider of waste-to-energy facilities in the U.K., was constructing its Kelvin plant to divert non-recyclable waste from landfill and generate baseload electricity. To meet this challenge, Enfinium selected Babcock & Wilcox to supply state-of-the-art combustion and steam generation technology for the facility.

Babcock & Wilcox provided its Vølund waste-to-energy technology, which included a DynaGrate combustion grate, a VoluMix secondary air system, and a large multi-pass boiler. This solution enabled the plant to process 395,000 tonnes of residual waste annually. The facility will generate 44 MW of gross electricity, enough to power more than 95,000 homes.
