Eco2 delivers 40 MWe waste wood power plant with Babcock & Wilcox

Eco2, a project developer, needed to build a waste wood-fired biomass power plant in Wales and required a full engineering, procurement, and construction solution to de-risk the project. They selected Babcock & Wilcox for its Vølund waste-to-energy technology and its ability to secure project financing.

Babcock & Wilcox delivered an EPC/turnkey solution featuring its DynaGrate combustion technology, which provides excellent fuel flexibility and requires no pre-treatment of waste wood. The resulting 40 MWe plant generates enough green electricity to power 78,000 homes and created local employment opportunities, all while being backed by a 15-year operations and maintenance contract from B&W.
