Salvation Army choose B4B in modern slavery response

The Salvation Army partnered with B4B Payments to tackle the insecure and impractical use of cash for people recovering from modern slavery. Facing a long‑standing challenge—having supported more than 10,000 victims since 2011 and receiving many referrals (46% from London in 2019)—the charity needed a cashless payment solution that could safely deliver subsistence support while reducing face‑to‑face contact during the coronavirus pandemic. B4B Payments’ prepaid Mastercard cashless payment technology was chosen to meet that need.

B4B Payments supplied prepaid Mastercard cards and the supporting cashless payment platform so staff can load recipients’ full entitlements at once, enable online payments, and minimize in‑person contact. The Salvation Army accelerated rollout with a £20,000 contribution from its Victim Care Fund to get cards to vulnerable people quickly; the result has been faster, safer disbursement of funds, improved financial inclusion for beneficiaries and better compliance with government guidance.
