B2W Estimate Speed and Accuracy Support 5x Revenue Growth

Cougar Companies, a Fort Myers–based contractor with more than 200 employees, needed faster, more accurate estimating to support growth across site, utility and specialized concrete work. Chief Estimator Shane Meaker, who had used B2W for 10 years, pushed to replace spreadsheets after joining in 2017; Cougar reviewed B2W Estimate and purchased three licenses within a week to avoid bottlenecks and scale bidding for projects typically in the $5–20M range (as small as $1M).

By turning on B2W Estimate and building a cost database in about three weeks, Cougar was turning out bids in four weeks, training estimators in 4–8 weeks and project managers within a couple of months. Integration with Trimble takeoff and Spectrum accounting plus a move to the B2W Cloud (late 2020) cut estimate time (two days to half a day), saved up to 60 hours on some takeoffs, delivered ~90% cost accuracy, and helped drive a 5X revenue increase from under $10M to more than $40M in five years—“It’s a breeze to use and it helps us win more jobs,” says Mr. Meaker.
