Pharmaceutical company Pfizer streamlines order-taking by implementing a web-based ordering system

Pfizer New Zealand, a pharmaceutical company, faced the challenge of providing an efficient electronic ordering system to its small and medium-sized customers who could not afford a full EDI implementation. These customers, including veterinarians and medical wholesalers, were still relying on phone and fax to place and track orders, which was inefficient for both the customers and Pfizer's internal staff. To address this, Pfizer partnered with vendor B2BE to find a solution.

B2BE implemented its e-Cat™ web portal, which acts as a front-end for customers to place orders online. The system translates these orders into EDI messages for seamless integration into Pfizer’s back-end ERP system. For Pfizer, the solution reduced manual order entry, saved on potential staffing costs for a growing customer base, and decreased customer service calls for order status checks. The portal also provided customers with greater control and visibility over their orders. B2BE's solution successfully extended the benefits of e-commerce to a wider range of Pfizer's customers.
