Oliberte Limited, the maker of Oliberte Shoes in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, wanted to be a role model for fairly manufactured goods in sub-Saharan Africa. With the B Impact Assessment, the company used the evaluation to understand and validate its impact work while also identifying areas for improvement, especially as it grew its manufacturing operations.

Using the B Impact Assessment from B Impact Assessment, Oliberte Limited took steps to certify its factory as Africa’s first Fair Trade footwear factory, strengthened supplier education on reducing environmental footprints, and committed 1% of profits to environmental causes through 1% for the Planet. The company’s B Impact Report showed a B Impact Score of 105, reflecting measurable progress and a clearer path to further improvement.
