A Azore CFD Case Study
A large power plant sought to optimize the complex ductwork between its boiler and pollution control equipment, a non-trivial challenge involving viscous flow with numerous control devices and paths. The plant partnered with Azore CFD, which utilized its simulation software to model the system's gas velocity, temperature, and pressure patterns.
Azore CFD implemented a solution using a hybrid polyhedral, hexahedral, and tetrahedral mesh to effectively model the flow, solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with an up-wind scheme and a k-epsilon turbulence model. This highly cost-effective approach achieved a stable solution with maximum efficiency, which was validated against other commercial codes. Armed with these insights, the customer was able to significantly improve the design of its ductwork system.
