Mid Ulster Council Digitises Waste Collection Data

Mid Ulster Council needed a better way to digitise and analyse trade waste collection data from more than 250 sites across the Dungannon area. The council was working with address-based spreadsheets that were not ready for GIS use, and its GIS officer wanted a way to map the data, improve route planning, and handle the records more efficiently. Azimap was used as the digitisation tool for this project.

Using Azimap, the council imported a non-spatial CSV, marked editable and required fields, mapped the sites through address search, edited records directly in the platform, and exported the finished data in the needed format without leaving the workflow. This made the process quicker and more accurate, increased productivity by 80% compared with the council’s proprietary GIS, reduced time spent on the task, and ensured there were no incomplete records. Azimap also freed up more time for deeper GIS analysis.
