Limerick City & County Council Successfully Deploys Azimap to Improve Planning

Limerick City & County Council, which serves the city and county in Ireland’s Mid-West, needed an up-to-date web GIS that would fit into its existing data model and infrastructure. The council wanted a solution that could work with Geoserver as the map server and PostgreSQL with PostGIS as the database server, while supporting both internal staff and public users. Azimap provided the web GIS platform and planning-focused capabilities to meet these requirements.

Azimap was deployed to create corporate web maps for internal and external use, with the council mainly using it to manage and publish extensive planning information across hundreds of data layers. The Azimap Planning Enquiry module gave public users restricted access to planning and enforcement searches, while council staff retained full access to corporate and planning data. As a result, Azimap became the central system for publishing map data, made map publishing easier, integrated smoothly with existing storage systems, and improved access to planning enquiry information for both internal and external users.
