Forestry Commission - Customer Case Study

The Forestry Commission, as a key partner in the Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels project, needed a way to manage and visualize over 85,000 squirrel sighting records to support conservation efforts and combat the spread of invasive grey squirrels. They partnered with Azimap to implement a geospatial solution for this challenge.

Azimap successfully imported the large dataset of squirrel sightings into its platform, creating interactive point layers on a Google Terrain base map. This solution provided the project with powerful tools, including the ability to view feature information, use What3Words for precise location naming, and perform spatial searches. The implementation by Azimap delivered a clear and accessible visualization of squirrel distributions, aiding in the long-term monitoring and conservation strategy across Scotland.
