A Azalea Health Case Study
Mebs Counseling is a Northern Kentucky behavioral health clinic that has spent nearly 20 years providing evidence-based therapy, case management and community-based services to children and families—many of whom live in poverty and rely on Medicaid. Because most services are delivered off-site in schools and other settings and often involve multi-caregiver team approaches, the clinic faced a sudden challenge in March 2020 to maintain access and continuity of care when in-person sessions became unsafe.
Mebs rapidly deployed Azalea Health’s telehealth solution—making it operational within 24 hours and using daily training and support calls to drive provider adoption. Within three weeks more than 700 psychotherapy encounters had been conducted via telehealth (about 10–15 visits per provider per day), with encounters increasing by over 100 in one week; clinicians also found patients, especially children, were often more relaxed and engaged, making telehealth a lasting part of their care model.
