A Azalea Health Case Study
DeWitt Hospital, a rural emergency hospital and nursing home in Arkansas, faced a critical challenge when its existing electronic health record (EHR) system was being discontinued. The on-premise system required heavy maintenance and lacked the ability to share patient data with the state health information exchange. The hospital's CEO, Brian Miller, needed a new EHR from a vendor like Azalea Health that would be cloud-based, require minimal IT support, and offer interoperability.
The hospital partnered with Azalea Health to implement its cloud-based EHR. This solution minimized IT costs and provided customizable workflows. A key achievement was Azalea's role in connecting DeWitt to the Arkansas SHARE HIE, making it one of the first providers in Southern Arkansas to do so. This interoperability allows for real-time sharing of patient data, including lab results and discharge summaries, leading to more informed care transitions.
