The customer, United Technologies Electronic Controls (UTEC), sought to create a new IoT-connected thermostat to help commercial and light-industrial buildings reduce energy costs and improve occupant comfort. To achieve this, UTEC worked with vendor Ayla Networks, leveraging its IoT platform to integrate with Encycle's energy-management algorithms.

Ayla Networks' IoT platform provided the necessary software to seamlessly connect the thermostat, enabling the use of advanced energy management. This solution facilitated a swift integration process, which greatly accelerated the product's commercial release. The new UTEC thermostat, expected to launch in February 2016, allows building operators to utilize real-world data for monitoring and improvements, resulting in significant energy and cost savings.
