Preview of the Republic of Tunisia Case Study

Face Intellect provided security for the Tunisian presidential elections

The Republic of Tunisia faced a high-security challenge for its presidential elections in November 2014: following the Arab Spring, the risk of terrorist infiltration at polling stations made robust surveillance a top priority. AxxonSoft’s Face Intellect facial-recognition technology was submitted to the electoral commission’s June 2014 tender to provide real-time identification and monitoring at voting sites.

AxxonSoft’s partner Synergie implemented a Face Intellect–based system at 150 polling stations using 269 live-feed cameras and a watchlist of about 1,000 suspected individuals; the system matched faces against the database and generated operator alerts according to similarity thresholds. The deployment enabled real-time monitoring and response, and the elections on November 23, 2014 were completed without security violations, meeting the electoral commission’s objectives.
