URSSAF – Caisse Nationale strengthens its mission-critical social security platforms

URSSAF – Caisse Nationale, which manages France’s URSSAF network for collecting and redistributing social security contributions, set out to open its ecosystem and enable third‑party services while protecting mission‑critical systems. The organization faced the challenge of modernizing legacy applications, meeting strict security, resilience and scalability requirements, and delivering APIs that could support new public and partner‑facing services.

To address this it adopted an API‑first strategy powered by Axway’s Amplify API Management Platform and formed a Digital Factory to accelerate delivery. The result: 1,256 internal APIs (connecting 40 applications), 61 external APIs (connecting 21 applications), and peak use of over 4 million secure API transactions per day — accelerating partnerships, enabling value‑added services, and improving responsiveness during spikes such as the COVID‑19 crisis.
