Le Groupe La Poste Going Virtual with VMware® and Axway OmniVision

Le Groupe La Poste’s Mail Services Division in Paris — which handles massive mail and document-processing workloads — needed to virtualize a large x86 server estate (about 1,200 servers) to scale services, cut costs and maintain 24/7 availability while staying within a tight budget and schedule.

They deployed Axway OmniVision capacity-management for VMware to identify virtualization candidates, size platforms and monitor ESX hosts. The project completed with no downtime, met budgets and schedules, consolidated roughly 560 servers into VMs, increased VM density (up to 20 VMs for development and 16 for production vs. the planned 12), improved application performance, simplified operations and provided a predictive 1–3 month view of capacity.
