A Axway Case Study
SpareBank1 is an alliance of 14 independent Norwegian banks that needed an organization-wide API strategy to meet PSD2 requirements while preserving each bank’s unique services, legacy systems and business models. The group faced a largely technical mandate in a market with shared infrastructure (BankID, common payment schemes) and had to introduce central governance without being overly prescriptive, manage cross-bank partnerships, and protect existing customer-facing revenue models.
They implemented Axway AMPLIFY™ API Management as a central, flexible hub to accelerate technical rollout, build a developer portal, and define access controls while allowing each bank to innovate independently. The platform enabled faster production of APIs, easier partner onboarding and new collaborative business models (for example, API-enabled loans tied to mortgages), delivering an innovative API-based platform that supports PSD2 compliance and extends functionality to customers and fintech partners.
