Case Study: Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) achieves military-grade, continuous digital certificate validation with Axway Validation Authority

A Axway Case Study

Preview of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Case Study

How Axway digital certificates safeguard information and protect infrastructure

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the U.S. Department of Defense’s largest combat support agency handling millions of items and thousands of daily transactions, needed a scalable public key infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of security and trust across its global logistics systems. The agency sought a solution that aligned with the DoD PKI PMO’s identity-validation objectives and supported expanded use of DoD Common Access Cards (CACs).

DLA deployed Axway Validation Authority enterprise-wide for more than 30,000 users, providing real-time OCSP certificate validation to prevent use of revoked credentials and simplify application-level certificate checks. The solution delivers fault-tolerant failover, a Repeater‑Responder architecture and CRL replication/monitoring for disconnected environments, enabling secure exchange of sensitive information and reliable, continuous authentication for mission-critical operations.
