Equinor, one of Europe’s largest gas suppliers, must exchange time-sensitive trading and operational data with more than 80 counterparties around the clock. When the industry moved from the AS2 messaging standard to the more secure AS4, Equinor found its legacy B2B integrations were manual, slow (up to two months to onboard a partner) and unable to meet the new technical requirements, creating a risk to network balance and operational costs.
Equinor deployed Axway B2Bi as a dedicated message broker, worked with a partner to create 30 reusable data maps, and moved all transformations into the B2B layer. The migration to AS4 completed with no unplanned downtime; today Equinor exchanges about 1,200 messages daily, cuts partner onboarding time by 75%, halves the team managing integrations (to two FTEs), and achieves higher availability and faster future deployment of standards.
