Case Study: Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recovers $8.7B in lost tax dollars globally with Axway Managed File Transfer

A Axway Case Study

Preview of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Case Study

For the IRS, hidden overseas holdings are fair game

The Internal Revenue Service needed a secure, scalable way to comply with FATCA by collecting foreign financial account data from FFIs and host-country tax authorities. Faced with a six-month deadline and the requirement to connect and onboard hundreds of thousands of global partners, the IRS sought a managed, highly secure data-exchange platform.

A consortium led by Axway delivered a cloud-based Managed File Transfer solution on AWS (with Carahsoft and Unisys) featuring a self-service partner portal, API integration, NIST-aligned security and elastic infrastructure. The system now securely connects 145,000+ partners (scalable to 600,000), met the tight schedule, reduced costs through cloud elasticity, was named an Excellence.gov finalist, and helped enable an estimated $8.7B in recovered tax revenue over 10 years.
