Case Study: Bundesagentur für Arbeit achieves on-time EBICS compliance and secure payment processing with Axway

A Axway Case Study

Preview of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit Case Study

Federal Employment Agency is First to Comply with EBICS Implementation

The Bundesagentur für Arbeit (Federal Employment Agency) is Germany’s largest public employment body, operating across 1,900 locations with more than 100,000 staff and handling about 18 million monthly transactions worth €9 billion to pay unemployment and child benefits. Faced with a strict January 2, 2011 deadline to adopt the new EBICS banking standard, BA had to execute two major IT migrations in parallel—standardizing banking communications while migrating a legacy financial application to SAP—without disrupting critical benefit payments.

BA partnered with Axway to build a B2B hub using Axway Integrator, Transfer CFT, Gateway and Secure Relay, integrating business logic, EBICS client/server functionality and SAP connectivity, and running parallel environments for a safe cutover. The result was on-time EBICS compliance, a stable and secure payments infrastructure that reduced complexity and workload, fulfilled legal requirements, and provided a scalable platform for future needs such as SEPA migration.
