CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest nonprofit hospital systems in the U.S. with about 150,000 employees across 21 states, sought to modernize patient services—such as virtual consultations, home-based care, and precision medicine—without ripping out critical legacy systems. The organization needed to enable cloud-native development and advanced data capabilities while maintaining strict control over sensitive medical data, regulatory compliance, and costs.

CommonSpirit implemented Axway’s Amplify API Management Platform alongside its existing Axway Managed File Transfer, integrated with legacy systems and governed by a dedicated Center of Enablement. The API-first approach securely abstracts complexity, enforces data governance, accelerates development with a catalog of approved APIs, reduces duplication, and enables new data-driven services (streaming, ML/AI), improving time-to-market and the patient care experience.
