CETREL captivates customers with secure digital banking

CETREL, the Luxembourg affiliate of SIX Payment Services, needed to modernize its card-services platform to replace inflexible batch processes with secure, scalable APIs and to enable new peer-to-peer (P2P) mobile payments. An in-house API solution proved costly to maintain as security threats and digital requirements evolved, so CETREL sought an off‑the‑shelf API security and management platform to ensure long‑term viability and faster time‑to‑market.

CETREL selected Axway API Management (API Gateway) and moved all API calls and security functions onto the platform, centralizing up to 200 security checks per transaction. The result: reduced operational effort, 24/7 development and production on the same system, rapid P2P rollout (pilot/production in ~60 days), and strong scale and performance—supporting 3 million cards, ~300,000 API calls per day (peaks ~40/sec) with average latency under 100 ms—along with improved monitoring, stability and faster customer onboarding.
