Bundesagentur für Arbeit enables secure, seamless eGovernment services in Germany with Axway

Bundesagentur für Arbeit (BA), Germany’s federal employment agency, needed to modernize and secure delivery of vital public services through digital channels. The organization faced decentralized, paper-based processes, a mandated transition to the EBICS payments standard, the requirement to integrate data from more than 100,000 employers, and the need to harden critical infrastructure against a rising volume of cyber threats while scaling quickly during crises like COVID‑19.

By deploying Axway Managed File Transfer, Axway B2B Integration and Axway API Gateway, BA centralized and automated eGovernment workflows, enabled seamless EBICS payments and B2B exchanges, and established a single point of control for API security. The platform supported €150 billion in benefit payments in 2020 (including an extra €50 billion for COVID relief), onboarded 100,000+ employers to a secure central system, and defends against up to five million cyber threats daily while meeting KRITIS security requirements.
