A Axway Case Study
The State of California’s Office of Technology Services (OTech) faced rising costs, security risks and operational complexity from dozens of disparate file-transfer systems across hundreds of departments and partners. With growing file volumes and sensitive data moving by tapes, VPNs and dedicated lines, OTech needed to consolidate, centralize and secure file exchange while improving efficiency and meeting rapid public‑reporting mandates.
OTech deployed Axway Managed File Transfer as a centrally managed, scalable shared service, providing secure, automated file exchange for 22 state agencies (54 projects), hundreds of partners and thousands of users. The solution eliminated legacy media and VPNs (including a decommissioned tape machine costing $100K/year), delivered significant ROI, delegated administration to agencies, improved compliance (HIPAA), sped onboarding (including a three‑day public reporting rollout) and reduced support, costs and risk.
