A Axway Case Study
AIFE (the French government’s Financial Information System Agency) built Chorus, the national financial information system, to centralize accounting, budgeting and payments in SAP while complying with the LOLF transparency and audit requirements. The main challenge was to provide a secure, fully traceable exchange layer to integrate enormous, sensitive data volumes from about 80 ministerial applications — including peaks of 5–10 million transfers per day and roughly 250 million transactions per year — without overloading the SAP core.
AIFE deployed the Axway Platform (Gateway, Integrator/Accounting Integration Suite, PassPort and Sentinel) as the secure integration layer. The solution handles up to 10 million daily tax declarations, isolates SAP from complex integration, delivers end-to-end traceability and audit trails for compliance, and manages complex accounting translations. The rollout improved scalability and security, supported consolidation of interfaces (reducing operating costs), and achieved high availability while enabling Chorus to manage over $500 billion in annual budget flows.
