Creating UI Standards Style Guides with Elizabeth Benker

ZS Associates faced a major challenge during its 2014 company-wide rebranding: its UX team needed to create a consistent look, feel, and interaction model across the Javelin™ product suite, but design standards were mostly undocumented and trapped in team members’ heads. The team wanted a central, online repository that could show interactive examples, share standards, and let designers update content themselves, and they turned to Axure Software Solutions’ Axure RP and Axure Share to make it happen.

Axure Software Solutions helped ZS Associates build the ZSUI Standards microsite in Axure RP and publish it through Axure Share, supported by downloadable CSS and reusable design libraries. The result was a shared framework that sped up wireframing, improved onboarding, and reduced visual QA time; new team members became productive much faster, and ZS now releases about one new standard per week while keeping products more consistent and on-brand.
