Oxnard PD, serving a population of 208,000 with 227 sworn officers, faced cumbersome, time-consuming citizen evidence collection and underused neighborhood watch networks. To address this, Oxnard PD partnered with Axon and deployed Axon solutions including Axon Citizen (Citizen for Officers and Citizen for Communities), Axon Capture, Evidence.com, as well as Taser CEWs and Axon Flex.

Axon implemented Axon Citizen and integrated it with Axon Capture and Evidence.com so officers could invite witnesses and collect submissions directly from their iPhones. In eight months Oxnard PD received 870 pieces of citizen evidence, saved about one to one hour and twenty minutes per evidence follow-up, and reported roughly a 5% drop in crime after promoting Axon Citizen through its Eyes On Crime program.
