London’s Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), one of the world’s largest police forces, needed a more secure and efficient way to share body-worn video evidence with the Crown Prosecution Service. Using Axon’s Evidence.com platform, the MPS was looking to replace a cumbersome legacy process that involved burning multiple DVDs, couriering them to the CPS, and dealing with security, audit trail, and data-loss risks.

Axon, in partnership with Microsoft, implemented a cloud-based SaaS workflow integrated with the MPS digital case file system, COPA, enabling officers to truncate clips, redact video, set permissions, and share evidence digitally. The result was faster, more secure evidence sharing and measurable impact, including more than 5,500 clips shared per month, a 20%+ reduction in complaints, 93% compliance with CPS sharing criteria during rollout, and early indications of improved criminal justice outcomes, including 43% of cases leading to charge, caution, or first-instance harassment warnings.
