Increasing efficiency and investing in community justice with Axon Evidence

Kent Police faced a fragmented, time-consuming process for collecting, storing and sharing digital evidence across body-worn cameras, CCTV, smartphones and other sources. Working with neighbouring Essex, they sought a single Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) to replace siloed workflows and improve victim support — and selected Axon’s Axon Evidence to meet requirements for interoperability, ease of use and proven vendor support.

Axon implemented Axon Evidence as the forces’ DAMS, integrating body-worn cameras, Interview Room, dispatch and third-party systems with auto-ingestion and community-request capabilities. Within six months the system ingested 350,000+ pieces of footage, handled 50,000+ evidence requests, and helped save an estimated 100,000+ hours previously spent collecting physical media; by April 2023 over 300,000 items had been shared with partners. Kent Police report smoother investigations, higher officer efficiency across 8,500 users, and more time to focus on victim engagement thanks to Axon.
