How body worn cameras have helped Rowan University PD

Rowan University Police Department turned to Axon after several “he-said-she-said” incidents highlighted the need for body-worn video to improve transparency on campus. The department wanted a solution that would fit the unique campus environment without being bulky, while also simplifying video management and providing strong audit trails for accountability and court use.

Axon provided the Axon Body 2 camera and the cloud-based Evidence.com platform, which the department tested and ultimately adopted. With Axon, Rowan University PD streamlined evidence handling, eliminated the need to burn and store CDs, and made it easier to track and find videos. The program also improved complaints review, supported coordination with university officials, and strengthened officer training through one-on-one footage review.
