How Axon is helping the French National Railway protect passengers

SNCF Railway Security, part of the SNCF group responsible for protecting passengers, staff and assets, faced rising crime and frequent acts of violence against its officers across France — handling roughly 130,000 safety incidents per year. To better protect agents and deter assaults, SNCF Railway Security and SNCF Voyageurs adopted Axon Body 2 body‑worn cameras and Axon Evidence, a cloud‑based digital evidence management solution, after a European tender.

Axon equipped teams with Body 2 cameras and integrated footage into Axon Evidence, recording more than 20,000 interventions (over 14,000 videos in the first seven months of 2021) and using redaction and sharing tools for training and police collaboration. The program is credited with a 47% drop in assaults on carrying agents (26% for nearby staff), calming incidents in 50–60% of cases, only ~2% of videos being used in investigations (highlighting deterrence), 79 videos redacted for education, and financial gains from reduced work stoppages — demonstrating Axon’s measurable impact on officer safety and evidence management.
