A Axon Case Study
Grand Prairie Police Department serves a growing Texas city of more than 200,000 residents that sits across four counties and sees nearly 1,000,000 people pass through daily. Geographic complexity, heavy traffic, and a patrol model that keeps officers in their cars created a need for cost-effective, mobile-first technology to increase visibility and simplify cross-jurisdictional evidence sharing. To meet that need, Grand Prairie Police Department partnered with Axon (alongside Flock Safety), adopting Axon Fleet 3 in-car cameras and Axon Evidence cloud services.
Axon’s Fleet 3 paired with Flock Safety’s stationary ALPR cameras and Axon Evidence created a cohesive camera network that alerts officers to hot-list plates, lets the department equip more vehicles at lower cost, and enables secure cloud sharing of video across counties. The system produced measurable results: ALPR provided a vehicle description within minutes in a school shooting investigation and led to the suspect being in custody within a couple of hours, while helping solve thousands of smaller crimes and making operations more efficient, according to the Grand Prairie Police Department.
