Wyoming town replaces analog system at school to better protect students and secure community events

Cody High School in Cody, Wyoming, faced poor image quality from a decade-old analog surveillance system that left staff unable to identify suspects or monitor night-time incidents at the busy, 42-acre campus. Seeking better deterrence and situational awareness for students, staff and community events, the district moved to an IP-based solution using Axis Communications network cameras (AXIS 214 PTZ, AXIS 225FD and AXIS P3301) recommended and deployed with partner ISC and integrated with OnSSI’s NetDVMS.

Axis Communications’ suite of 80 indoor and outdoor network cameras, combined with OnSSI video management, motion-triggered recording and Smart Search, gave Cody administrators clear, zoomable images and efficient archives (24 TB storage with 45-day retention). The upgrade improved identification and investigations dramatically—principal Brandon Jensen reports going from ~15% identification with analog cameras to 100% with the new Axis cameras—while reducing storage needs and improving campus safety and accountability.
