A Axis Communications Case Study
The Village of Westmont needed to consolidate four separate access control systems across its municipal buildings to simplify administration, support more credentialing options, and secure key interior doors. With State grant funding, the village selected Axis Communications and deployed AXIS A1001 Network Door Controllers and AXIS Entry Manager to replace and unify its access control infrastructure.
Axis Communications installed AXIS A1001 controllers and AXIS Entry Manager across five government sites (including 16 controllers retrofitted in the Police Department), reusing existing HID readers and using PoE to reduce wiring and installation time. The unified, programmable system lets IT manage users and schedules from a single console, enabled in-house administration that saved Westmont about $15,000 per year in third‑party service contracts, and tightened access control by location and time of day.
