University of Wisconsin Parkside, a 700-acre suburban campus in Somers, Wisconsin, needed better video coverage to support its certified police department where officers could not always be on site. The existing analog system lacked functionality and image clarity, so the university worked with Axis Communications to deploy Axis network cameras (including fixed and PTZ models) and mobile solutions such as sensors tied to an AXIS F44 Main Unit.

Axis Communications implemented a campus-wide IP video upgrade—about 75 cameras added over five years—plus four image sensors on a patrol unit to provide mobile monitoring. The deployment (integrated with Milestone XProtect®) enabled clear evidence capture, including identifying a license plate that led to charges, prompted steady demand from other departments, and has delivered measurable improvements in campus safety and situational awareness.
