Case Study: United Center achieves unified, scalable arena security with Axis Communications

United Center skates its way to a unified network solution

United Center, a major Chicago arena hosting about 225 major events a year and 16,000–22,500 attendees depending on configuration, was frustrated by a faulty analog DVR security setup and fragmented operations. To modernize and centralize monitoring and access control, the venue selected Axis Communications hardware alongside Genetec’s VMS and Convergint Technologies integration services to replace legacy systems with a unified network solution.

Axis Communications supplied a mix of Axis network cameras (including AXIS M3007‑PV 360° 5MP, AXIS Q6045‑E PTZ, and AXIS M3046‑V with Zipstream) integrated into Genetec Security Center by Convergint, creating a single command center for monitoring, dispatch and PA control. The system has grown to more than 304 cameras, cut camera and license counts via 360° units, reduced technical troubleshooting, improved real-time incident response, and delivered a scalable platform for future expansion so staff can focus on spectator safety.
