Zena Communications was asked to stop birds — initially around a residential pool and later herons eating fish in a North Carolina pond. To solve the problem they chose Axis Communications equipment, installing an AXIS P1427-E network camera (and using AXIS Camera Companion for remote viewing) as the core of a custom deterrence system paired with partner analytics and audio deterrents.

Zena integrated the Axis camera with Jemez Technology’s Eagle‑i Edge® analytic running in‑camera and triggered four speakers/Bird‑X acoustic devices to scare birds away; the analytic sends 10 still shots by email when activated and the owner can view live feeds via AXIS Camera Companion. The Axis Communications‑based solution has achieved about a 92% success rate, significantly reduced fish replacement costs, and eliminated recent bird incidents while also providing added property monitoring capabilities.
